Ernest Joes Engages Youths Across Obubra I, Urges Them to Shun Social Vices, Register for PVCs

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Obubra I State Constituency ahead of next year's House of Assembly election, Tpl. (Dr.) Ernest Joes Obasse, has called on young people across Obubra I Constituency to reject social vices, embrace good morals, and contribute positively to the development of their communities.

Dr. Obasse made the call on Sunday while addressing the leadership and ward coordinators of the Assembly For All Young Generation Movement, a support group of over 500 members drawn from the four wards of Obubra I Constituency, at his residence in Obubra.

He explained that the movement was established at his instance to bridge the gap between leaders and the younger generation by creating a platform where young people can be mentored, guided, and inspired to become responsible and productive citizens of the society.

In his address, Dr. Obasse condemned criminality, cultism, stealing, drug abuse, and other social vices,urging the youths to stay away from activities capable of destroying their future and bringing shame to their families, communities, and the constituency.

He emphasized that the platform would equip young people with sound values, leadership orientation, and opportunities to realize their full potential, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved when the youth are empowered and mentored by their leaders. 

The APC candidate also cautioned the youths against taking the law into their own hands, encouraging them to remain peaceful at all times and to seek lawful means of resolving disputes.

Speaking on the forthcoming electoral process, Dr. Obasse urged all eligible youths who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing voter registration as the foundation of active democratic participation.

He directed leaders of the movement to mobilize members to the INEC office on Monday for registration, assuring them that he would personally bear the transportation and other logistics costs associated with the exercise.

Dr. Obasse further charged members of the movement to remain committed to democracy by protecting the sanctity of the ballot and ensuring that every valid vote counts at their respective polling units during the election.

Several stakeholders who spoke at the meeting, including former APC State Assistant Secretary Erong Igwe, former PRP House of Representatives candidate Emmanuel Obasse (almighty), Special Leader Igut Igut Araye ("Let Them Say"), Okpeta Jacob, and others, commended Dr. Obasse for his commitment to mentoring and empowering young people.

Reflecting on the political history of the Obasse family, the stakeholders acknowledged the sacrifices of Hon. Joseph Obasse, father of Ernest Joes, describing him as one of the founding pillars of the APC in the area who devoted his time and resources to the growth of the party without personally benefiting from it. They expressed gratitude that his years of sacrifice and dedication are now being recognized through the emergence of his son as the party's candidate and urged the youths to support him.

In his remarks, the leader of the Ratel Movement for Ernest Joes, Wisdom Ofutet, thanked Dr. Obasse for creating a platform that promotes youth mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement. He also appreciated the candidate for his financial support to the group and pledged, on behalf of the members, to reject crime and drug abuse, promote peace, mobilize eligible voters for PVC registration, and work tirelessly to ensure victory for the APC and Dr. Ernest Joes Obasse in the forthcoming election.
