The President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, His Excellency, Amb. Emeka Rollas Ejezie, VAN has set up a committee to support government in the fight against Corona virus pandemic also known as COVID-19.


The Global pandemic “COVID-19” which has recorded over 40,000 death cases worldwide as also recorded over 100,000 recovered cases, presently records 174 confirmed cases, 9 discharge and two death in Nigeria as at late Wednesday 1 April, 2020.

In a bid to assist Government efforts in curbing the spread and managing the menace of the deadly Corona Virus, National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, today set up a powerful committee to help raise support for Government in isolation centers, advocacy and dissemination of information.


The Committee code named “AGN COM 4 COVID-19”, with revalidated and financially up to date members of the Guild is headed by Hon. Desmond Elliot, other members are, Segun Arinze, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Uche Elendu, Abubakar Yakubu, Yul Edochie, Emeka Duru, Wassh Waziri Hong while Monalisa Chinda Cokerwill serve as the Secretary.

Stressing the need for setting up the Committee, Mr. Rollas analysed situations in countries like Italy, Spain and USA and concludes that if adequate support is not provided, the Corona Virus scourge may overwhelm Government, if left alone.

Therefore, as a responsible Guild with high crave to give back to the society, the AGN National President feels one of the ways to assist Government overcome the pandemic is to get involved beyond just playing lip service on social media space, but to engineer volunteers and stronger participation, the President buttressed.

The Committee will raise volunteers to assist in isolation centers and also use Members STAR-POWER for dissemination of information and advocacy campaigns to the public on the urgent ways to prevent further spread of the dreaded disease.

The AGN COM 4 COVID-19 Committee has swung into action immediately after inauguration by making contacts with relevant agencies including Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, health and other COVID-19 management officials.

The Committee will also reach out to supporters, Patrons and fans to raise support for the Federal Government.
