 Okpambe Fishing Festival: Organizers Meet With C'River Commissioner For Culture & Tourism, Set to Host 2020 Edition


 Organizers of Okpambe Fishing and Cultural Festival,Yala-Obubra in Obubra LGA of Cross River State have met with the honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Development, Cross River State, Mr Eric Anderson over the hosting of 2020 edition.

The delegation comprised of representatives of Yala Obubra Community Association(YOBUCA) and Coneri Magazine, the consulting company for the festival presented the road map for the 2020 edition.

The commissioner who presented an endorsement letter to the organization, said the Ayade led state Government is willing and ready to partner with relevant stakeholders to float such festivals as well as develop other viable events in the state.

Speaking, the CEO of Coneri Magazine, Eriacy Confidence, said Okpambe Fishing Festival has the potentials of not only generating a billion Naira to the economy of the state but has the capacity to further place Cross River State in the world's tourism map. He however appealed to the Governor, through the commissioner to come to the rescue of the host community as there's no accessible road for tourists to patronize the colorful event. He said constructing the road will open up the community for economic growth and development.

On his part, the President of Yala Obubra Community Development Association, Mr Oba Akasi called for partnership from both governmental and non governmental organizations in a bit to build a world class fishing festival in the state.

Other members of the Team were Mrs Alice Obong, Moses Ekpedeme and Mr Augustine Odey.
