The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ejezie Emeka Rollas has vehemently condemned the attack by the military on peaceful protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos where several youths were reportedly killed and others severely injured.

The President condoles with the bereaved families and pray for quick recovery of the injured.

Mr. Rollas appealed to the youths to sheath their swords and embrace dialogue to achieve their demands as the peaceful protest has been sabotaged and hijacked by hoodlums to unleash wanton terror and looting on the populace.

The National President decried that nobody has made any statement to console the police family who have been losing their personnel since this crisis. Police is a very important organ in the security architecture of any society. Youths should not because some members of the disbanded SARS were bad then take advantage to kill and maim innocent police officers all over the country. If policemen are withdrawn from their duty posts the country will turn to a state of anarchy like some countries where banana republic has been enthroned.

As President of an Association with majority of youthful members, I encourage peaceful demands for restructure of the police and the entire policing structure of Nigeria

The AGN President spoke through a delegation represented by Mona Lisa Communications of Actors Guild who visited business empires of some of her members torched by the vandals; shops of notable actresses, Lilian Bach and Uche Elendu were completely looted and destroyed by the hoodlums in the wake of the crisis.

Uche Elendu’s “KILLER CURVES” boutique at Lekki in Lagos was heavily looted as all her designer stocks running into millions of naira were all looted and the shop destroyed by the vandals.

Also, Lilian Bach’s multi-million-naira upscale boutique “CURIOUSITY UNDERWEAR” located at the Shopping Mall Surulere Lagos was completely looted and all items removed and the boutique destroyed.

The National President of the Guild called on Lagos State Government to make good her promise to support the victims of the vandalization with immediate compensation to enable them start their businesses as the unfortunate incident has cut short their sources of livelihood.

The delegation was devasted over the level of destruction, he sympathized with them over the losses of this immense proportion. He also appealed to the Federal Government to come up with quick resolution to meet the demands of the youths, while he called on his members to obey the curfew declared by some states in respect of the violent activities of the hoodlums. Government should quickly implement the five demands of the youths to avoid further bloodshed and skirmishes he concluded.
