 National Youth Day: NYCN Chairman Addresses Cross River Youths, Calls for support in curbing the security challenge in the State.

 OFFICE OF THE STATE CHAIRMAN, NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA CROSS RIVER STATE

Fellow Cross Riverians:

1. Today marks the celebration of our youthfulness and usefulness as ebullient youths of Nigeria. A National day set aside to mark and celebrate the entire Youths of Nigeria.

2. As Youths of Cross River State, the past few months were marked by triumphs and tribulations,  benefits and burdens, opportunities and Challenges. We have made some far reaching advances in building bridges, stronger and more united Cross River State. We have also renewed our faith in one another, and in our state. We have proven that, as youths of Cross River State, we remain resilient, dogged and unwavering in the pursuit of a better and stronger Cross River State.

3. In my last address, I did emphasize that we were in a sober and turbulent moment in our state. We are still in that mood notwithstanding. Our sombreness has to do with the crises of restiveness occasioned by the activities of hoodlums who have unimaginably pierced the very fibres of our once peaceful state, looting and vandalizing our common heritage, the very essence of our uniqueness as a state. 

4. On this occasion, it is important that we remember and sympathize with all those whose businesses were looted and their hope and source of livelihood dampened by this hoodlums who want to bring the state to it's kneel. They will not succeed. 

5. This administration in synergy with the state government and every other institution, is committed to restoring the peace and serenity that once grace this ambient state. To all those waging war against the state, I ask that you return all arsenals to base and embrace Peace. To those who have genuine grievances and have expressed same through the End_SARS Protest, I ask that we give the government time to work on our demands and ameliorate our plight. 

6. In partnership with the security apparatus in the state, we have set up taskforce and Youth Volunteer groups in all the Local Government Area to help monitor and curb youth restiveness and criminality. I urge every progressive Cross Riverian to put aside political, sectional or other parochial considerations, and support wholeheartedly the effort of the state government and the security agencies, in curbing the security challenge in the State.

7. Fellow Cross Riverians,   our journey thus far has not been easy. There have been tough periods, but the spirit of unflagging resilience of our Youths have continued to see us through. We will continue to march forward to greater height.

8. This administration is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of Youths in Cross River State, hence we have successfully secured some properties in the State belonging to the Youths of Cross River State, most prominent is the ongoing renovation, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the YOUTH HOUSE AND SECRETARIAT. We are committed to bringing this project to fruition before the expiration of this year by God's grace.

9. I wish to thank the Governor of the State, His Excellency Prof. Ben Ayade, for his love for the Youths of Cross River State, which he has continued to demonstrate by massively engaging Youths in active governance through Appointment, Skill Acquisition and other empowerment programmes.

10. May I also seize this opportunity to appreciate His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for approving today November 1st, as National Youths Day.

11. I wish to also enjoin all youths in Cross River State to take advantage of all the Youths Empowerment Schemes initiated by His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. Cross River State Youths are hereby advised to key into the ongoing Survival Fund scheme, NYIB fund scheme etc.

12. As we continue to build bridges across the state, it is my earnest desire that all the Youths in Cross River State GET INVOLVE in driving the process for the FUTURE IS NOW.
