SENATOR GERSHOM BASSEY EMPOWERS 200 CONSTITUENTS



No fewer than 200 beneficiaries from the Cross River Southern Senatorial District are participating in the ongoing 5-day sustainable employability training initiated by Senator Gershom Bassey, the Senator Representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District, through his empowerment scheme aimed at generating the needed sustainable employment/ empowerment opportunities for his constituents. 


The training, anchored by the institute of Advanced Entrepreneurship Research and Development and approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, will award beneficiaries with a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)-approved certificate to access the CBN/Nigeria Incentive-based Risk sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) loan scheme with a limit of N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) to boost the agribusinesses value chains.


Speaking on behalf of the Senator during the training, Barr. Ekpo Ada said the program is facilitated by the Senator Gershom Bassey who was unavoidably absent, but has assured that this set of trainees are the first batch of many and the second batch will follow next month for another set of beneficiaries who are picked from the seven (7) LGAs that make up the Cross River South that he represents. Barr. Ekpo hinted that the training has been fully funded and access to the loan has been guaranteed, but eligible applicants must have a business plan/ proposal. 


Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey is an ardent believer of sustainable empowerment with a ripple effect on the overall improvement of livelihood across board.


Beneficiaries expressed happiness for the training that the loans will affect their lives positively couple with the harsh economic realities.
