Frank Ovat, The Old Broom That Knows The Corner Of The Room

The battle for who flies the flag of the People's Democratic party (PDP) for Obubra II State Constituency ahead of the 2023 General election continues to gather momentum as Aspirants intensify last minute's efforts to win delegates to their sides for the May 18  rescheduled house of Assembly primaries.

While I am certain that the party will provide a level playing ground for all Aspirants, I urge all the delegates to consider the future of our people as paramount and look beyond monetary inducement and primodial sentiments and elect a candidate that has the zeal,  experience, integrity and capacity to win the 2023 elections for the party. 

Out of the numerous Aspirants seeking to fly the party flag for Obubra II State Constituency, the only person that perfectly fits into the above description is Hon. Frank Ovat. 

A proverb says, " New broom sweeps clean but it is the old one that knows the corner of the room".  As a serving member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Ovat is not only an old broom that knows the corner of the house but is better equipped with valuable field experience and electoral strength to deliver the party in the forthcoming elections.

Apart from the fact that Hon. Frank Ovat is over qualified to bear the flag of the party, his return to the house will position him for several opportunities including being qualified to ask for principal offices like speaker, Leader Etc thereby having a wider platform to contribute more to the growth and development of our LGA. Since the benefits enjoyed by returning members are enormous, Obubra should beware of committing the blunder of sending two freshers to the state house. Currently, the member representing Obubra I, Rt. Hon. Friday Okpechi is pursuing a higher aspiration which means that the Constituency will be producing a first timer.  We are only left with the option of returning Hon. Frank Ovat to have our voices heard in the next Assembly. Our delegates must therefore decide whether they want our dear local government to continue to wallow in obscurity or midwife the process of placing Obubra in the orbit.
