Five Years After, We are Yet To Recover From the shock of Dr. Matthew Achigbe's Death - YalaObubra Community

On this solemn day, we remember, as a community and in tears, the sad incident that snatched away from us, our son and leader, the late Dr. Matthew Ojong Achigbe, former chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Cross River State.

Five years have passed since this unfortunate event, yet the memory of the pains and sorrows have lingered.

Like you may well know, Dr. Achigbe was not just an illustrious son and esteemed leader of Yala- Obubra. He was among other things, the fabrics, that wrapped the political, social and cultural consciousness of our community.  He was a seasoned politician, a distinguished chief, an erudite scholar, an ardent party man, an impressive historian and a dedicated leader who tirelessly worked towards the progress and betterment of our community.

As we reflect upon his remarkable legacy, we are reminded of his unwavering commitment to public service and his selfless endeavors to uplift the lives of our people as his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication will never be forgotten.

His time as the chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Cross River State provoked hope, even though it was short lived. His time with us was marked with notable achievements and milestones. Under his guidance, our community witnessed significant development, empowerment, and progress. His efforts to address the needs of our people were inspirational, and we are forever grateful for his service.

Today, we stand united as a community to mourn our late burden bearer, while the decrying the political, social and economic vacuum his demise has created.   As we remember our late leader, let us find solace in the knowledge that his legacy lives on through the positive impact he made on the lives of countless individuals.

To the immediate family of Dr. Matthew Ojong Achigbe, we extend our support and offer our prayers during this difficult time. May the memories of your beloved father, husband, and esteemed leader bring you comfort and strength. We are here for you, ready to stand by your side as we honor the invaluable contributions he made to our community.

As we pray the Almighty God to grant his soul an eternal rest in His bosom, may we ask for His guidance and inspiration us in our collective pursuit of progress and unity within the Yala-Obubra community. Thank you.
