 Obubra Mega Rally: We Moved All To Take Over All- Obubra Council Chair

The event which started from Onyadama in a motorcade up to the Obubra township Stadium witnessed an unprecedented crowd in the history of Obubra especially when it comes to political rallies. Dr Bassey Agara Tom, the Executive Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, who spoke for and on behalf of the defectors said the crowd was due to the acceptability of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the LGA as the Peoples Democratic Party is now defunct in the State and the LGA in particular.

Dr Bassey Tom accentuated the formidability of the new APC, saying that the party can now win all its elections with ease as everything about the LGA now is APC. He appreciated the Governor Sir Ben Ayade for taking such a brilliant decision, assuring him of his LGA total support in the business of recoupling the State with the center.

Very prominent personalities in the list of defectors were the Hon Member representing Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency, Hon. Mike Etaba, the Commissioner for Industries Hon. Peter Akam, the Commissioner for Humanity and Social Welfare Hon. Blessing Egbara, the former House of Reps Member Hon. (Chief) Enest Irek, the Vice Chairman Hon. Peace Obeten, Leader of Legislature Hon Sampson Buah, Secretary of Council, Mrs Helen Isangha, 7 Councilors, all State and Local Government political Appointees and about 50,000 others.

Some of the APC bigwigs who welcome the new defectors were, Hon.(Chief) Alex Irek, former Minority Leader Cross River State House of Assembly, Chief Barr. Johnson Ebokpo, former Chairmen of council, Rev. Chris Obasse and Dr. Kyrian Mfam. Others were Prof. Anim Obongha, Prof. Okorn Osam, Mr. Egbe Abeng, Prof Enang Enang, Engr. Cyprian Oyom, Chief Barr.  Omukwu Chris, Mrs Edema Irom, Mrs Achigbe, and other very respected stakeholders and members of the Ruling All Progressives Congress Obubra Chapter including the chapter caretaker Chairman, Mr. Erong Igwe and the State Caretaker Secretary, Dr. Ntete Duke, State Organizing Secretary, Mr. Owan Ekpe, Central Women Leader, Mrs Mary Edom, and Vice Chairman Central, Mr. Sunny Ndem and other prominent Party faithfuls from the LGA too numerous to mention. 

Other very important personalities who graced the event were our very own Barr Chris Agam Agara, the political juggernaut of Cross River State and indeed Nigeria and the philanthropist of our time, the Executive Chairman of Ikom LGA, Hon. Kingsley Egumi and his Etung counterpart, former SSA to the president, Dr Ebuta Ayuk, SA political to Governor Ben Ayade Dr Peter Ojie, Chief Okoi Obono Obla, Chief Akin Rickert and others.

It was a day of declaration and confirmation, a day Obubra set itself on the path of development, it was indeed a tsunami.
