The humanitarian genus who is a leading brand in the media industry made the admonition during an event tagged Calabar Media Hangout with Prince 7, held at the faculty of arts Auditorium of the University of Calabar, organized by PET media and events. Prince 7 used the occasion of the award ceremony to sensitize young people on the appropriate use of media and how individuals and Government can benefit from the opportunities available in the media. He further stated that the media industry is a creative space and whatever is promoted through it, gains strength and generates impact which is why the young people must negate the negative use of media but rather take advantage of the structural values of the state and promote them through the media, as without the media there wouldn't be a conducive environment to celebrate and attain comfort.
The event which also acknowledged the contributions of Coneri Nigeria, a leading name in the Media, Entertainment, and tourism, and organisers of Okpambe Fishing Festival, one of the state owned events, handing an award of Excellence for the establishment to the CEO, Eriacy Confidence. Prince Edward also emphasized on the need for the media to concentrate on practical areas that are in Cross River and promote them, as it is the responsibility of Government to create an enabling environment but it is the responsibility of the young people to utilize the environment created by Government. While he called on Government to propagate the media as a veritable platform for job creation as well as a platform for image promotion, economic development and cultural marketing. He said that it must be used to strengthen the economy of our state as Cross River state is so blessed and we all need to promote the good values of the state especially through the media space which has a broad information diserminating strength.
