CROSS RIVER STATE YOUTH COMMISSIONER, BARR IJOM UKAM COMMENDS TEAM UNICAL FOR EMERGING AS AFRICAN TEAM/REGIONAL CHAMPION AND SEMI-FINALIST IN THE 2023 MANFRED LACHS SPACE LAW MOOT COURT COMPETITION

C'River Youth Development Commissioner, Barr Ijom Ukam Lauds Team Unical For Their Exceptional Performance At The 2023 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition 

Amidst some glitz and bloom, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development Cross River State, Barr Ijom Ukam congratulates TEAM-UNICAL on their exceptional performance at the *2023 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Competition (MLMC) which took place at Baku, Azerbaijan. The event which was hosted by International Institute of Space Law (IISL) attracted over Six Hundred (600) participants and also adjudicated by three (3) sitting judges of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This achievement earned them the African Team/Regional Champions title, placing them alongside champions from Latin-America, Asia, North America and Europe.

In a remarkable display of legal prowess, TEAM-UNICAL won in the African Regional Finals, surpassing the university of Pretoria, South Africa and Sixteen (16) other universities; advancing to the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively.

According to the Honourable Commissioner, "this achievement reflects University of Calabar's  commitment to excellence, to legal education, and also dedication to nurturing outstanding legal minds. It underscores the institution's global position as a formidable contender in space law." The Commissioner went further in extolling and advising the  three ingenious students from the faculty of law, where himself graduated from, who represented TEAM-UNICAL Musa Omma-Agbon Zaiki, Felix-Uche Rechard Chikeziri and Akpoiroro Victory Oghenekparobor to keep the flag of the institution and Nigeria flying; nothing that, Nigerians are proud of them.


Barr Ijom expressed confidence in His Excellency Sen, Prince Bassey Otu's readiness to implement programs that will help in bolstering youths' potentials in the state and beyond.
