National Youth Assembly, Ikom Chapter Holds Convention, Advocates More Support For Youth Development 

On September 24, 2023, the Ikom Local Government Area chapter of the NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA (NYAN) conducted a highly successful convention to elect principal officers. The event, held at the Ikom Local Government Area council hall, marked an essential milestone for the organization.

MISSION: To serve as a viable platform for the expression of

the utmost desires of Nigerian youth.

MOTTO: Youth Voices for Positive Action

OBJECTIVES:

a. To serve as a formidable voice for Nigerian youth and be a

galvanizing force for youth action on issues of sustainable

development and Nation building.

b. To coordinate and network Nigerian youth and youth

groups particularly community based youth organizations

(CBOS) and smaller grassroots groups for the advancement

of Nigerian youth, their communities and the country in

general and encourage the formation of youth discussion

groups, forums, and parliaments at the community levels.

c. To promote youth entrepreneurship and engage in viable

partnerships for the attainment of our objectives.

d. Sourcing for and dissemination of vital information about

opportunities that Nigerian youth can benefit from.

e. Organize capacity building lectures, seminars, workshops

and other youth engagement fora for members and other

Nigerian youth.

f. To promote patriotism, youth participation, good

governance and responsible citizenship as well as sexual

and reproductive health.

g. To carry out programs, activities and initiatives which are

aimed at improving the livelihoods and promoting the

wellbeing and total inclusion of Nigerian youth and the

development of communities

NYAN Ikom Local Government Area convention commenced at 2:30 p.m. with prayers for the youth, leaders, and the country. It included elections, affirmations, and an inauguration ceremony. The principal officers of the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria Ikom Chapter were elected:

Ambassador Nton Nton Bassey – Ambassador Speaker of Ikom.

Ambassador Eka Victor Lifu – Majority Leader.

Ambassador Francis Wisdom Amba – Ikom Constituency 1 Leader.

Ambassador Emmanuel Esoso Ese – Ikom 2 Constituency Leader.

Ambassador Otie Otie Perfect – Ofutop 2 Leader.

Ambassador Gideon Ojong Asam – Ikom Urban 2 Leader.

Ambassador Agbor Kelvin – Nta/Nsle Leader.

Ambassador Ernest Anogha Agbor – Ofutop 1 Leader.

Ambassador Esekup Kennedy – Abanyum Leader.

Ambassador Diligence Ayuk E – Nde Leader.

Ambassador Roland Obi – Akparabong Leader.

Ambassador Abaji Joy – Coordinator People with Disabilities (PWD).

Ambassador Godwin Otang – Publicity Secretary.

Ambassador Ndifon Gabrielle – Ikom Urban 2 Leader.

The integration process was conducted by the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Ikom, Comrade Kenneth Kajang Neji, and the National Youth Council of Nigeria Ikom 2 Constituency Leader, Comrade Ekara Esha.

After a successful integration, the principals-elect of the NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA IKOM LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAPTER were charged with carrying out activities that promote unity and growth among Ikom youths.

Ambassador Eugene Ojua, Chairman of the NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA Cross River State convention and election committee, represented by Ambassador Abraham Okpa expressed gratitude to the Ikom Chapter for successfully conducting the convention.

The event concluded with youth members embracing one another, sharing ideas, and taking photographs.

Furthermore, on September 25th, 2023, the NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA Ikom Chapter paid a courtesy visit to the Ikom Head of Local Government Area (HOLGA), Elder Ikpi Jonah. During the visit, 00th0 congratulated him on his tenure as HOLGA of Ikom Local Government Area and presented him with an award of recognition and appreciation.

The assembly sought collaboration to further the growth of the NATIONAL YOUTH ASSEMBLY OF NIGERIA Ikom Chapter, and HOLGA Jonah advised the assembly to engage in positive activities that promote the development of Ikom youths, promising his support for their endeavours.
