As part of the People's First agenda of His Excellency the executive governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu, Her Excellency, Rev. Eyoanwan Otu, wife of the governor of CRS, today flagged off her goal of free medical outreach across the 18 LGAs in the state. The CRS Honorable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Dr. Helen Isamoh Egodo, accompanied Her Excellency at the event, which took place at the Primary Health Care, Henshaw Town. This marks the beginning of Her Excellency's supervision and assessment of primary health care facilities to ensure the provision and accessibility of quality healthcare in the state. 


The outreach features Medical screening, Medical treatment, Healthcare consultation, Vaccination, Eye care, Dental care, and Health Education.


While addressing the people gathered at the event, Her Excellency reiterated that this is a season of sweetness and that it has always been her desire to initiate and be part of every philanthropic duty to the good people of Cross River State irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or cultural difference.


Her Excellency went further to spell out the terms of the free medical services, and noted that the beneficiaries of the services will come from all the eighteen LGAs in the three Senatorial Districts of Cross River State. This medical agenda is unique and important due to the premium attention Otu's government places on healthy living.


Mrs. Otu advised the general public to support the Otu-led administration so as to ensure that the state meets the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)  on universal health coverage by 2030. She stated that the successful attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal will be through different health advocacy awareness and outreach activities directly targeted at people who need access to medical care the most, especially in the rural communities.


Her Excellency pleaded with all sons and daughters of Cross River State, the general public, custodians of culture and religion, leaders of social and political groups, and other stakeholders to mobilize their people to come out in their numbers and take advantage of the opportunity to have easy access to quality healthcare.


The Humanitarian Affairs Commissioner, Hon. Dr. Helen Isamoh Egodo, as well as the Commissioner for Health,Women Affairs, Sport, Social welfare,and commerce and the Commissioner for Housing, Wife of the Speaker CRSHA and wives of Honourable members of CRSHA, Wife of the Chief of Staff, etc.  accompanied Her Excellency as she made the rounds of the facilities to inspect the offices in the primary health care center. Her Excellency inspected the data collection unit, consultation unit, eye care unit, pharmacy, and the laboratory department at the Primary Health Care Henshaw Town.


In closing, Her Excellency commended all the healthcare workers for volunteering their professional expertise for the benefit of patients across the state irrespective of their cultural background.
