UN's Food And Agriculture Organisation Lauds Governor Otu's Choice Of Commissioner Ebokpo

The United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has commended Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu for his choice of Hon. Johnson Ebokpo as Commissioner for Crops and Irrigation Development, noting that it is a case of putting a round peg in a round hole.


Assistant FAO Representative (Administration), Mr. David Fehintola made the commendation when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner's office in Calabar.


Mr. Fehintola remarked that the FAO has been in partnership with the government of Cross River State, rendering developmental support to the people and expressed happiness over another partnership opportunity through UK-PACT project. 


He appreciated the government of senator Bassey Otu for providing a field office for the project and solicited support for smooth operations of the office.


The team further discussed basic security needs and compliance issues that needed to be addressed for the United Nations Organization field office.


In response, Commissioner Ebokpo thanked the team for their cooperation over time and called for more support to strengthen some emerging activities of the Ministry.


Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ekpe Bassey also proferred administrative guide on other concerns raised by the team.


It is worthy to note that Some weeks ago, the FAO held inception workshop for the UK- PACT project on Integrated Management of Mangrove Ecosystem and expansion of social protection for fisheries and forest dependents Communities in the coastal areas of Cross River State.

The Participating Local Government Areas are Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Calabar Municipal, Calabar south and Odukpani.
