Obubra Leaders, Women And Youths Celebrate Chief Alex Irek, the Ogerege 1 Of Africa On The Occasion Of His Birthday 

The state housing resident of Chief Alex Irek, the revered leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC Obubra chapter was filled with joy and celebration as political associates, friends, family members and well wishers gathered to honour him for his outstanding contributions and dedicated service to society. The event, which brought together prominent leaders, women, and youths, particularly of Obubra extraction was to commemorate the birth anniversary of Chief Alex Irek and his exceptional leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to the progress and development of Obubra LGA and Cross River state.

Chief Alex Irek, a former chairman of Obubra of Obubra Local Government area, former minority leader of the Cross River state House of Assembly, and pioneer chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Cross River state, has played a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of the state. His remarkable achievements and visionary approach have earned him the title of Ogerege 1 of Africa, symbolizing his immense influence and impact on the Obubra.

The celebration, organized by various groups, was aimed to acknowledge Chief Irek's vast accomplishments and express gratitude for his selfless service. It provided an opportunity for leaders, women, and youths to pay tribute to the respected leader and express their appreciation for his dynamic leadership style.

During the event, several prominent leaders of Obubra such as former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Ernest Irek, the two members of the state House of Assembly representing Obubra 1 and 2 respectively, Hon. Ovat Agbor and Hon. Egbe Abeng, the commissioner for Crop and irrigation development, Hon. Johnson Ebokpo Jnr  praised Chief Alex Irek for his exceptional leadership skills, strong principles, and dedication to the welfare of the people. They highlighted his significant contributions to the growth and development of Obubra LGA, including his efforts to improve infrastructures, promote socio-economic empowerment, and empower the youth. Other leaders such as the member representing Obubra/ Etung Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, and other prominent figures outside the LGA sent their felicitations. 

Chief Irek, in his humble response, expressed his gratitude to the Obubra people for the honor bestowed upon him. He reiterated his commitment to continue serving the people and working diligently towards the advancement of Obubra LGA.

The celebration concluded with cutting of cake, singing of birthday song and toasting to long life and prosperity. Afterwards, drinking and eating continued further highlighting the sense of unity and pride among the people.
