Face Of The Week
Meet Vicaray, Cross River Born Songwriter, Singer and Music Producer.
Victor Arembang Okpa popularly known as Vicaray is Cross River born sensational singer, song writer, music producer and foremost promoter of Obubra/Mbembe Language and culture.
The Lagos based peace Ambassador who can be regarded as the biggest musician of the Mbembe/Obubra extraction is no doubt making Cross River State proud as he has not relented in his efforts to export Obubra/Cross River State rich cultural heritage to the world through his highly motivational songs.
Vicaray, with the song "MANCHERA" released in 2005 in Calabar and later remixed in 2012 in Lagos was adjudged the most popular Musician in Obubra by both mainstream and online media. With other hit songs such as LOVE KWAM, MBEMBE PEOPLE, MONEY, A SONG FOR THE ORPHAN, POUND OF FLESH and the newly released trending song titled WORKSHOP has proven the artistic ingenuity of the people of Obubra and indeed Cross River State in Nigeria. Apart from his singles, the young singer has collaborated with several other local and international acts and is currently under the management Coneri Magazine.
Vicaray has continued, unperturbed in the ministry of using his musical talent to unite the people of Mbembe/Obubra as well as advocate for peaceful coexistence in the state and country in an era where musicians have lost touch with the meaning of music and the goal of the music ministry.
In an interview with Coneri Magazine, the Ogada born image maker of Mbembe/Obubra disclosed his over whelming gratitude to Gov. Ben Ayade for conducting the Local Government Council Elections in the state as well as conveyed his hearty congratulations to Hon. Dr. Bassey Agara Tom over his victory at the polls and subsequent inauguration as Chairman of Obubra. He maintained that his victory is for the good of every son and daughter of Obubra, home and abroad. He however called on the new chairman to look into the plight of Obubra born musicians in particular and entertainers in general as the industry has suffered great neglect over the years and should be given its deserved attention. He urged Obubrans at all levels to support Dr Bassey Tom to implement his campaign promises.
In a message to his teaming fans, the singer while appreciating them for patronising his songs, urged them to obey NCDC guidelines for the prevention of Corona virus pandemic as well wear nose masks and maintain social distance to continue to remain a COVID 19 free state.
