OBUBRA COUNCIL CHAIR VOWS TO SUSTAIN CLEAN UP, CHARGES THE PEOPLE TO BE FRIENDLY WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

The executive chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon Dr Bassey Agara Tom has promised to sustain the operation clean up Obubra for healthy living, to create a healthy environment for the people. He made this known yesterday July 9th 2020, in Obubra Council Area when he was addressing the crowd that trooped out of their comfort zone to respond to the call of keeping the LGA clean. Dr Bassey Tom charged the people to form the habit of keeping the environment clean beginning from their surroundings up to the public places as only clean environment can provide fresh air for the people to breathe. The chairman said he will from time to time lead the people out for sanitary work as the time to create the new Obubra we are envisaging is but now.

He however thanked the participants for their prompt response given the short period of the invitation for the movement. He expressed delight at the readiness of the people to recreate a new environment for themselves and their children devoid of rancour and social disunity. The chairman seized the opportunity to inform the people of the many job opportunities from Federal, State and Local Government, saying that you can only be successful when these opportunities meet your preparation. He advised Obubra people to always get themselves prepared at all times so as to grab any opportunity when it comes knocking.
"It is my desire to see my people succeed in life, it is my desire to see Obubra developed, but we cannot achieve development when the people are not in themselves developed. We have to first develop the minds of the people so that they can as well develop the place and also manage the development properly.

It is my duty to keep you abreast with information about job placement at my disposal as the  chairman, it is also your duty to scout for this information too and get your leaders to know about them. But the crust of the matter is that always be prepared for opportunities not to pass you by. Go to school and make sure you focus and get your credentials complete, in that way you will be developing yourself to also develop the place. Shun cultism, do not forment trouble, these are all nugatory. In all ladies and gentlemen, I promise you that the new Obubra we are craving  is already here" the chairman added that he would come up with another day for us to continue from where we stopped. He earlier revealed to the participants that he takes delight in rewarding hardwork, therefore they should always leave him with their names and phone numbers well documented in all the sanitation spree which he said will be a continuous event.

Feeling the pulse of the participants, some of them said they were happy with the initiative of the chairman to bring back the sanitary and salubrious environment for a healthy living. They promised to always come out in times like that, to support the chairman as it is everyone's responsibility to keep the LGA in a better shape. They went further to appeal to the chairman Dr Bassey Tom not to relent his effort of developing Obubra, saying that they were confident in his capacity to deliver. Also present in the event with the chairman were the deputy leader of Obubra legislative assembly, Hon Peter Okey, SAs to the governor of Cross River State Senator Sir Ben Ayade, the chapter vice chairman of PDP, Obubra chapter, Hon William Isek, the National President of the Mbembe Peoples Assembly, Hon King Omenyi and other dignitaries numerous to mention.

The sanitation exercise started from the council Roundabout as earlier announced and terminated at Education Authority. According to the chairman, the exercise will continue from there at a day he will let everyone know. It may interest you to know that the chairman Dr Bassey Tom in making sure that the people were properly motivated moved with the people on foot from the Council to Education Authority and back, he led and the people followed.
