C'River Youths Extol Ayade's Industrial Drive and Sustained Fight Against Covid-19, Move a Vote of Confidence on Health Ministry

Youths under the umbrella body of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Cross River State Chapter, have eulogized Governor Ben Ayade  and the Ministry of Health for sustaining the fight against Covid-19.

This was declared in a press conference by the new Chairman of the Council, Comrade Daniel OBO, held in Calabar the State capital.

Addressing newsmen, Comrade Obo said that the sustained vigor of His Excellency Prof Ben Ayade and the Covid-19 Taskforce headed by Dr Betta Edu, Honorable Commissioner for Health, was a huge success. He noted that the proactive response from the government and his health team gave adequate attention to the fight against Covid-19.

"It baffles me that someone individuals would want to rubbish the good work that the State and the entire health team have done. It is clannish to think that someone would want to bring others down because of gender and age. We condemn in totality, attacks on the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu. The Youth must be encouraged to deliver and not chastised for what they are doing."

"As a result of the gender imbalances in the society, only few of our female youth have the courage to come out to leadership positions. Let's not chase them away with the continued attacks on them just because they are women. I don't encourage that and I shall resist every attempt to vilify our young women."

The Youth stakeholders who frowned at the campaign of calumny and name-calling being orchestrated by some individuals for personal gains, adviced the Youth populace to disregard any divisive insinuations from any quarters and also dismissed as outright falsehood, statements making the rounds that the Commissioner for Health and the Taskforce team didn't perform well.

In a vote of confidence on the ministry, the Youth unanimously adopted a motion on the subject matter with a 'Yes' vote. They adviced those who want to make cheap popularity and quick-notes to look elsewhere where for their I'll trade.

"We support in totality, the Honorable Commissioner and her team for the great work they have been doing in ensuring that the fight against Covid-19 is given adequate attention. The Youth Council therefore, pass a vote of confidence on the Ministry of Health and the Taskforce team", he said.

In a related development, the Industrial Drive of the Governor of Cross River State, Sir Prof Ben Ayade, has been applauded by the Youths of the State. The youth stakeholders who made this known in a meeting in Calabar, said Governor Ayade's passion to develop the industrial sector must be encouraged by all youth, noting that the signature projects of the Governor were steadily being achieved.

The stakeholders lamented the non utilization of the many opportunities created by this industrialization, noting that only a tap into this sector by the youth will eliminate the unemployment that is currently high in the State.

While speaking, former Chairman of the Youth Council and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Ndiyo Ndiyo, expressed government's good intentions and efforts towards job creation. He wondered why the many infrastructural facilities provided by government are underutilized.

The youth stakeholders who took turns to itemized the difference areas of the State economy and how youths can come in, identified the various industries such as garment factory, rice factory, indomie and other signature projects scattered around the State.

They called for patience in expecting immediate returns on the Industrial facilities on ground, while explaining that some industries actually take a longer time to yield the needed returns on investment.

Comrade Daniel OBO further called on all youth to be United, saying that nothing was more important than being united especially those who were not successful at the just concluded Elections. He adviced them to eschew all forms of bitterness and join hands in building the council.
