Ikom Council Chairman Takes A Firm Stand To Restore Peace To Nta/Nselle

The unrest between the communities of Nnaborokpa in Nta Clan and Emeakpen in Nselle clan, all of Nta/Nselle ward in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State has attracted the attention of the Council Chairman Hon. Kingsley Egumi who is determined to restore peace between the twin communities.

The Chairman who personally attended and presided over the peace keeping meeting held on the 9th of July 2020 expresses his disappointment at the indegenes of these communities, especially at the  Clan heads and Chiefs who have watched with folded arms while their youths wreck havoc on each other.

The meeting which was falicitated by the Deputy leader of Ikom legislative council and councillor representing Nta/Nselle  ward, Honourable Joseph Nton and attended by Security Chiefs, Clan heads of Nta and Nselle, saw the inauguration of a Ten man committee from both clans. The committee which is made of Elders and Chief will look into issues instigating the crises and brainstorm to find a last solution to peace.

Meanwhile, both communities have also been band from accessing the  land in dispute  until the  issues  is resolved.

Another  six man  committee made up of youths was also  setup and assigned with  the responsibility of finding ways  to  put  the dispute between the two communities  to an end.

The Chairman however did not fail to notified the communities that he will not hesitate to have the Chiefs and Clan heads arrested, detained and even dethroned if they are unable to call their youths to order. Although the clan heads of the communities had explained that they had never been in support of the activities of the youths as they reacted to  the Chairman, Honourable Kingsley Egumi's disappointment at their inability to tam their youths.

The Chairman by  way of a closing remark pointed out the benefits of the communities living peacefully with one another. He hinted them of  the good plans of their illustrious son, Barr. Chris Agara to improve the lives of the people, particularly in the aspect of Agricultural evolution which will come to the ward within the shortest possible time.

On this note the meeting ended with everyone determined to play their parts to ensure that peace is restored once and for all.
