"My aspiration includes ensuring that our people have access to efficient healthcare services. At present, there is noticeable absence of tertiary health care facilities in the entire Senatorial District . Consequently, our people travel between six (6) and seven(7) hours to access specialised health services in Calabar or make hazardous journeys to Benue, Ebonyi, Enugu and other places to receive specialist medical attention. The sad result is preventable deaths of our invaluable citizens. Accordingly,
(a) I shall carry out a campaign, employing appropriate legislative processes, for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) or a tertiary level specialist hospital in Ogoja.
(b) I will galvanise the Federal government and international donor support for the State government health management systems. In this way, primary health delivery services will be enhanced and made more functional through adequate staffing and drug availability at affordable rates.
