The Committee on Accreditation of Health training Institutions paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr and the Obol Lopon of Ugep on Wednesday, 29th July, 2020 to apprise him of the takeoff of the Cross River State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Sciences, Itigidi and the need to solicit support from sons and daughters of the land to complement government's efforts in ensuring turn out of middle level front line health workers by the college.
The Committee Chairman, Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong having been introduced by the Committee secretary, Sir Chief Aji E. Eko Ksji who doubles as the Registrar of the College, brought felicitations from our supersonic and digital Governor, Sir Senator Prof Ben Ayade Ksji and Hon Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu who according to her hold the Obol Lopon in high esteem as one of the Paramount rulers that support government policies and projects. This quality of the Obol Lopon was manifestly exhibited in the fiat he granted to Accreditation Committee to mount the College Sign Post along Ikom/Calabar highway by Ediba road on Ugep; an exercise that flagged off the commencement of Collegiate activities at Itigidi.
In response, the Paramount ruler extolled the sterling qualities of Governor Ben Ayade whom he described as the best governor with myriad of visionary appurtenances and projects capable of catapulting Cross River State to an unimaginable fame in the comity of nations while referring to Dr Betta Edu as a lamp purposefully designed by God to guide those that traverse.
He finally blessed the Committee members, the provost, Mrs Ruth Ita Ebong, the Ag. DNS, Dr Pauline Obute and HODs of the College present in his palace and pledged unalloyed support from sons and daughters of Yakurr in ensuring that the College stands the test of time especially in training front line health workers. Highpoint of the event was a group photograph by Committee members and Council of Chiefs of the Obol Lopon Council.
