OBUBRA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN CONCLUDES PLANS TO RESTORE ELECTRICITY IN THE LGA, AS HE MEETS WITH PHCN OFFICIALS AGAIN.

The executive chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon Dr Bassey Agara Tom has concluded plans to restore electricity supply in the LGA. This happened earlier on Monday June  22nd, 2020 as he met with the PHCN officials again in his office at the Council. Speaking in an interview with press men, the feeder manager engr. Mfem Enyeme said the visit was at the behest of the executive chairman of Council, to brief him on what is required in totality for steady power to be restored in the entire Obubra LGA. He said the network from Abakiliki to Ugep, up to Obubra must be totally rehabilitated with standard materials to achieve a steady supply of power to Obubra.

" We agreed that we are going to send what is required for the rehabilitation to the chairman, it will now left for the chairman to put up a proposal to the governor, Sir Ben Ayade through the Special Adviser on Power. It is just the political will to do it, there's nothing politics can not do, the chairman has to interface with the governor to get the job done. As soon as the materials are made available to us, ours is to get to work and in less than a week we will do our job as professionals"

In his comment, the chairman Dr Bassey Tom expressed delight on the revelation by the PHCN officials about the faulty network that transmits power to the LGA, which includes damage Transformers, faulty high tension cables, destroyed poles etc.from Abakiliki to Obubra. He reiterated his resolve to solve the perennial problem of electricity in the area, adding that he will do everything possible in his power to get the work done and restore steady power supply in the LGA and get the people smile again after a long time of suffering in stark darkness.

"We are talking about developing our LGA, and I think for this development to be possible, we have to first restore the light. We can not talk about development in darkness, we have to recognise the place of electricity in rural development. I have asked the PHCN officials to immediately get the requirements across to me, so that I will swing to action without delay. The light in the entire Obubra must be restored in my administration"

The meeting was the continuation of the June 19th meeting with the officials of Obubra unit of PHCN in Apiapum where the chairman registered his commitment to lit Obubra for speedy development. The chairman said he was happy with the progress made on the issue in just a week, saying that the discussion he had with the officials from the headquarters has given him hope that he will surely win the fight against the epileptic power supply in the LGA.
