Cross River Commerce Commissioner Frowns At Shut Down Of Markets  ll Coneri Magazine

The Commissioner for Commerce, Pst. Mrs.RoseMary Archibong, has frowned at the Market shut down embarked upon by some traders in Calabar without adequate consultation.

She expressed her displeasure when she received today,  in her office representatives of the National Association of Nigeria Traders, Cross River State Chapter.

Pst. Archibong, saw the action as ill timed considering the milestone reached by the State Government in smashing kidnappers den, as well as fighting other criminal activities in the State adding that these effort, has yielded some positive results in recent times.

While she sympathised with the traders over the incidents of kidnap, the Commissioner, called  for cooperation as the Cross River State Government under the leadership of His Exellency, Prof. Ben Ayade continues to make progress against all forms of crimes.

Responding, the Chairman NANTS, Cross River State Chapter, Mr. Ejike Chukwu, stated that the said market shut down, was not embarked opun by all traders but dealers on Electrical materials, building materials, spare parts and Pharmaceuticals promising that NANTS will synergize with all trade Unions in the State, to resolve issues and ensure that markets,are reopened for business transactions.

Present at the meeting, was a representative of Calabar Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Asim  Ita.
