The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Cross River State, Mr Mfon Bassey has described Late Godwin Akwaji, Former Member representing Obubra State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly as a tactful, warmth, tender hearted and indeed, hardworking legislator who will be missed greatly by family and friends.

The Commissioner who said Late lawmaker battled vainfully to survive the frailties inflicted by the fatal claws of death, however charged all those affected by Akwaji's death to be consoled with the fact that he led a good life, was a devout Christian and evidently should be resting on the right hand of creator. He said despite the pains inflicted, Cross Riverians should resigned to the will of God  as he maintained it's only a temporary journey for a permanent rest.

The Environment Boss therefore urged Cross Riverians to continue to support and pray for the family of the deceased.

"AN ODE TO A SEASONED POLITICIAN: LATE HON GODWIN AKWAJI, MEMBER REPRESENTING OBUDU STATE CONSTITUENCY, CROSS RIVER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

Honourable! You were an epitome of civility and efficiency. No wonder you did say less, but caused your unmistakable actions to speak more for you. Your role as a father and politician will ever remain unforgettable.

Hon, my beloved brother, you were a mirror to many. We saw tactfulness, warmth, tender heartedness and, indeed, hardwork each time we watched you during your days on earth. Your earthly life was abound with lessons too didactic to forget.

Hon Akwaji! You were like an oasis in the desert to many.

Though you battle vainfully to survive the frailties inflicted by the fatal claws of death my hope sticks on the fact that you are finding solace with our Creator. Since death has been granted immortal immunity, we too will toll the same paths.

Adieu my friend and brother.

Mfon Bassey
Commissioner for Environment"
