Cross Rriver/Ebonyi Youths Peace Development Movement Meets With  Obubra LG Chairman, Seeks Collaboration  For Enthroning Lasting Peace Between The Two States.

The above mentioned organisation, formed for the purpose of  enthroning and maintaining peace in Cross River and Ebonyi States,has yesterday June 24, met with the executive chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon Dr Bassey Agara Tom. Speaking in the meeting, one of the representatives of the group, Comrade Osam Anthony, said the meeting was meant to familiarise themselves with the chairman and to present a communique of their activities since inception on the 5th of September 2019 to him.

Comrade Osam Anthony stated that since the organisation was inaugurated, the Cross River/ Ebonyi border areas have been relatively peaceful, he solicited support from the chairman to enable the organisation succeed, to ensure a continuous peaceful coexistence in the area. The National vice president of the organisation, comrade Lucky Okpechi, also briefed the chairman on the recent kidnapped case in the Osopong axis, disclosing that they have recorded success as arrest have been made by the Ebonyi State police command and the suspect charged to court. He said their challenge now is the lack of resources to pursue the case, especially since it is being handled by the Ebonyi State police command. Comrade Lucky Okpechi further appealed to the chairman to laise with the state government to help salvage their plights as they have been left all to their fate while loosing their land and facilities to the sister Ebonyi State.

Tha chairman thanked the group for such a laudable initiative and brilliant display of courage in midwifing peace in Obubra. He regretted the huge challenges staring them in the face due to lack of Government in the LGA. He said now that there's Government in place, those challenges will be surmounted as he will do everything within his reach as chairman of Council to help them succeed in the act of fostering lasting peace in Obubra. Dr Bassey Tom admonished them to always intimate him on the happenings to keep him abreast of their activities on regular basis. He commended and encouraged them to keep on working hard for the liberation of their people.
