Why RT. Hon. Ogana Lukpata is the favourite and still remain the people choice for the bye- election of the Northern Senatorial District. He is God fearing ,He is competent, intelligent, trust worthy and his humility is un March by any in the political elites in Cross River State.
The RT. Hon. Ogana Lukpata was born and  raised of  a peasant family in the Obat autonomous community of North ukelle, Yala Local Government Area of the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State. He  has a good family life with a wonderful wife  and children. RT. Hon. Ogana Lukpata is an epitome of the Christian virtue of contentment, with a modest leaving house each in Calabar and Obat. Put differently, he is not materialistic, coming from the Deeper Life background of modest, humble and unassuming lifestyle. So he has no interest in accumulating wealth for himself knowing very well that we are pilgrims on earth. He prefers to lay up his treasure in the heavens. Like he has always said, at 60 years he has lived his life and now wants to live the remaining part of his life live for others. And that is why his philosophy has always been "living for the sake of others." So I hereby present to you a man who is not going to the Senate for personal gains -  building houses for himself, buying expensive cars and living a flanboyant life, but a man with the desire to go into the office of the Senate to impact and affect lives positively. This is the best choice for the vacant seat of Senate for Cross North. Rt Hon Ogana Lukpata is the IDEAL man and the BEST choice for the job.
The Rt Hon Ogana Lukpata holds a Doctoral Degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies of the University of Jos. He also possesses the Master's Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy, the Bachelor of Laws and the Bachelor of Divinity. He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1987 and has a professional Postgraduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Lagos.
Rt Hon Dr. Ogana Lukpata was elected National Legal Adviser to the Social Democratic Party at the Party's National Convention held in Abuja on July 25,1990. As National Legal Adviser, he doubled as Sole Administrator of the Party in Borno and Yobe states simultaneously. Due to the successes recorded in the two states, he was further deployed to assist in restructuring and strengthen the Party in Akwa Ibom State in 1992, an assignment he accomplished in three months. He served as a Member of the Governing Board of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital from 2000-2004 under the Obasanjo led Federal Government of Nigeria.  Rt Hon Dr. Ogana Lukpata was elected two times by the good people of Ukele to represent Yala 11 state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly from 2011-2019, the 7th and 8th Assemblies of the nation's 4th Republic. In the 7th Assembly, he was Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service, Human Rights, Ethics and Privileges. He was a Principal Officer in the 8th Assembly and also had the honour of being elected two times as Speaker Pro Tempore. Presently, he is Special Adviser Legal, Office of the Governor.

The Rt Hon Dr. Ogana Lukpata has been exposed to legal practice both at the official and private bar. At the official bar, he retired from the civil service of  Cross River State in 2006 as Deputy Director (state counsel). Here, he served as Head, Department of Public Prosecutions; Head, Department of the Administrator General and Public Trustee; Head, Department of Legal Drafting; Head Zonal Office, Ogoja and Head, Zonal Office, Ikom. At  the private bar, he practiced as pupil counsel, O.O.Ede & co, Lagos; Associate counsel, Liberation Chambers, Calabar; Managing counsel, Efiok Cobham & Associates, Calabar and Principal Counsel, Ogana Lukpata & Co., Calabar.

Rt Hon Dr.Ogana Lukpata has attended several workshops, seminars and training programmes on Leadership and Legislative Procedures and Practice both in Nigeria and in the United States, South Korea, Kenya and South Africa. He has also been honoured with local and international awards, including Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation, Icon of Nation Building in Africa by the African Students Union Parliament and an Award of Excellence as a worthy Alumni of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar. He is a fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria.
