CRS ANTI-TAX: NURTW, Drivers Association and Others Laud Governor Ben Ayade, Urban Drivers Slash Bus Prices

As part of COVID-19 palliatives and in furtherance of the State tax exemption law, the Cross River state NURTW, Drivers Welfare Association and other relevant stakeholders in the transport Union has laud the Cross river state governor Ben Ayade on his declaration of suspension of tax(ticketing) for low income earners.


Gratifying the Governor, The leadership of Highway, 8miles Bus drivers Welfare Association expressed their profound gratitude to His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade as a typical example of a suffrage government with empathy for the people and considering the low income earners due to the economic hardship caused by the outbreak of covid19 pandemic.


Owing to the current situation, The association assured to extend the good gesture of His Excellency down to the public by deducting the bus prices, the agreement was sealed after a scrutiny deliberation hinted with the leadership of NURTW, Bus Driver's Welfare Association and other relevant stakeholders.


The helmsman of the transport Union opined that passenger charges from Etim Edem Park will henceforth be slash to N50 and from the Army Junction to 8miles will effect a cost of N70 adding that from 8miles to Watts Market will be N70 as oppose to N100.


Speaking on behalf of the Union, The General Secretary, Transport Stakeholders Forum Support Group, Comrade Togun Abayomi Oluwaseun stated that: “The price reduction is to further compliment the dynamic efforts of the Governor to cushion the effect of the economic hardship on common citizens as part of the cooperate social responsibilities to their business community.”


Speaking further, The secretary clarified that the price slashed are for commuter buses not the mini buses. He further urge the members of the association to adhere the State government Covid19 preventive measures.


Responding, the Members applaud the Anti-Tax Agency immersed efforts to trim issue of illicit and multiple taxes on low income earners and Taxi drivers in the State.

He also assured the public that the agency will jiffy respond to any aid.
