Glory Okpa, 10 others inaugurated as councillors in Obubra, charged to put ward above personal interest






The Councilor representing the good people of Ofumbongha/Yala Ward in Obubra Local Government Area who doubles as the chief whip of the Obubra legislative council Hon Glory Okpa was yesterday inaugurated alongside ten others representing the ten wards respectively.

The inauguration of the 7th Assembly  which took place at the legislative chamber, Obubra LG council  had in attendance the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Dr Bassey Agara Tom, the member representing Obubra 2 state constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly Hon Frank Ovat, the Commissioner for industry, Hon Peter Akam,appointees and other distinguished sons and daughters of the LGA.

  The chairman who took over from  the immediate past Head of Local Government Administration HOLGA  Mr. Larry Ekpenyong expressed gratitude to the Almighty and to the good people of Obubra for not only attending the event but also for adopting the Covid-19 order.

"I welcome you all to the swearing in exercise of the 7th assembly and I thank you specially for adopting the stipulated rules of NCDC in the fight against Covid-19''

The chairman further said:
'' I wish to congratulate all of you for your victory across polls in the just concluded L.G.A Elections. It's with great joy I wish all of you  happy swearing in''

He also urged the councillors to regard  their various wards above their personal needs and enjoined them to pledge support to the respective wards.

"I enjoin you all to see the needs of your respective constituency above your personal need. I expect each councillor to be 100% committed to his or her  ward at every point in time.

He proceeded by charging the councillors to discharge their legislative duties seriously and take proactive measures that will help his administration to achieve the goal of maintaining peaceful coexistence at all points in time.

Finally, the chairman promised to work harmoniously with the legislative arm to ensure the high level effectiveness he has promised the good people of Obubra L. G.A.

'' I promise a harmonious relationship between the executive and the legislative arm through out my stay in office".

On her part, the councilor representing Ofumbongha/Yala, Hon Mrs Glory Okpa who threw a lavished reception for the good people of her ward at Dr Ofutet Road Obubra, after the inauguration, expressed joy in the success of the event and in the large turn out of constituents to celebrate with her.
The Honourable pledged to hastily put machinery in place to help address the plight of the people in collaboration with relevant stakeholders of the ward, LGA and state.

In a separate interview with Coneri Magazine at the reception venue, Hon Okpa explained the deplorable nature of the Obubra- Ofumbongha-Araragha and Ofumbongha/Yala road as her reason for hosting the reception in Obubra urban instead of her village.
