Edo 2020: Setback for Obaseki as INEC confirms direct primary

The second-term bid of Governor Godwin Obaseki has been hit by a setback

- It has now become clear that the governor will wrestle five other aspirants to get APC ticket

The re-election bid of Godwin Obaseki was on Tuesday, June 9, hit by a massive wave of setback after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) approved direct primary for All Progressive Congress in Edo state.

recall that the adoption of the direct primary by the ruling party recently generated a ripple of controversies following its rejection by Obaseki and his loyalists.

The Edo governor, who is also contesting, believed that the process which allows all card-carrying members of the party to partake in the selection of the flagbearer is a ploy against him by Adams Oshiomhole.
