Democracy Day: Egbara Felicitates CrossRiverians, Advocates Values That Deepen Democracy

As the nation marks the 2020 Democracy day amidst lock down resulting from the outbreak of corona virus pandemic, the Honourable commissioner for humanity and social welfare in cross River State, Mrs Blessing Egbara has called on  CrossRiverians and indeed Nigerians to imbibe values that will deepen democracy in the country.

The commissioner in a Democracy Message to Nigerians identified patriotism, discipline, tolerance and social justice as veritable tools for deepening democracy in the country. The humanitarian also charged Nigerians to be  law abiding well as ensure peaceful coexistence with neighbors.

'I felicitate with the people of Cross River State and Nigeria in this year's democracy day celebration. Although, the celebration has been hampered by the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic, yet, it is necessary for all of us to imbibe values that will help deepen democracy in the country by way of being patriotic, tolerant and discipine as well as cohabiting peacefully with our neighbors"

Recall president Muhammadu Buhari, in honor of MKO Abiola who was the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 Elections , declared June 12 as the New Democracy Day abolishing May 29.
